Inferring Feelings with Kindergarteners

"To help students understand the nature of inferential thinking, we might feign a terrified look and ask them what they can infer from our facial expression" (Loc 3345).

The strategy described in chapter 9 of Strategies That Work, about inferring feelings with Kindergartners is something that takes place in our classroom daily. We have a feelings buddy chart. When students feel it's necessary to visit the Safe Place, they go over to the Feelings Buddy chart and select the doll that matches their emotion. As the text states, this is supposed to help them better understand their own and others' feelings (Loc 3354). I didn't get a picture of a child actually using it, but I've attached a picture of it to this post.
